About Us

Rail Images was established in 1998 by partners Alan Cheek and Ian Stoner. Both Alan and Ian had previously been part of the British Rail Photo Unit in London. Their careers had developed side by side within the Audio Visual Unit at Marylebone. With the departments demise in 1986, Alan remained within BR as Central Advertising and then Intercity’s chief advertising photographer, whilst Ian left the company to form a Video Production company with another colleague.

Both partners have had a wide experience within photography for over  40 years

Rail Images can provide a broad range of complementary services where required by clients. Whether it is necessary to digital enhance images or to create high resolution scans, we can undertake a variety of production techniques involving computer-generated imagery and graphic applications for use in promotional material, publications, reports and other specialised visual imagery.

Full scanning facilities from all sizes of transparencies or negatives, image retouching and manipulation is also available together with photo-quality ink-jet printing.
